Borgal 24%

Borgal 24% is a solution for injection and contains trimethoprim and sulfadoxin. Trimethoprim is a diaminopyrimidine and sulfadoxin belongs to the group of sulfonamides. The combination is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative micro-organisms.

Composition  
Solution containing 40 mg trimethoprim, 200 mg sulfadoxine per ml.

Formulation  
Ready-to-use solution for injection.  
Indications  Treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to the combination of antibiotics, such as infections of the respiratory, gastro-intestinal and urino-genital tract and infections of the joints or skin.

Dosage  
The dose advise is 3 ml/50 kg bw.
Dosage interval 24-48 hours.

Method of administration
By slow intravenous injection in cattle, horses, sheep and goats or by intramuscular injection. 

Withholding period  
For meat: 8 days  
For milk: 4 milkings (48 hours) 
(National regulations should be observed).

Presentation  
Vial containing 50 and 100 ml.

Storage  
Store below 25°C. Do not freeze

Contra-indications  

• Not to be used in animals known to be allergic to aminopyrimidines or sulfonamides.
• Not to be used in horses under sedation with alpha 2 agonists.
• Not to be used in animals with severe renal or liver dysfunction. 

Precautions  
Operators allergic to aminopyrimidines or sulfonamides should avoid skin contact with the product.
